Minden hosts Miss Nevada contestants

The public is invited to an ice cream social and meet and greet hosted by the Holiday Inn Express in Minden, in partnership with the Miss Nevada Organization, 3-5 p.m. Saturday. The 11 contestants competing to become Miss Nevada 2013 and the 12 young women vying for the title of Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen will be on hand to sign autographs and pose for pictures during this free event.

“We have been looking for a way to introduce the contestants to the community of Minden since we began coming here for a preparation weekend,” said Amy Hacker, executive director of the Miss Nevada Organization. “We had a meet and greet last year and the contestants enjoyed interacting with the residents that stopped by to visit. This year, the staff at the Holiday Inn Express wanted to do something more to generate excitement and thought an ice cream social would be the perfect event. We couldn’t be more thrilled and are looking forward to the afternoon.”

The contestants will be in town for a two-day orientation in preparation of the 2013 Miss Nevada and Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen competitions which will be held June 14-15 at Texas Station in North Las Vegas. Contestants will participate in a variety of seminars all designed to assist with their final plans for competition.
