The Douglas County Public Library’s annual book sale is May 18 and 19 in the CVIC Hall.
Times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 18, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 19.
“It’s a fundraiser for the library, and it’s enjoyed by the community,” said Maria Pearson, senior library technician. “Going to a book sale is fun. You never know what you’re going to find.”
Thousands of used books and audio books will be for sale; DVDs, VHS tapes, and music CDs will also be available.
“We’ll have more than 20,000 gently used books at this sale,” Pearson said. “Lots of children’s books, and we sell them for a very reasonable price. It’s like shopping at a candy store.”
A special preview is 5 to 8 p.m. May 17 for members of The Friends of the Douglas County Public Library.
Attend the preview by joining the Friends at the door, save 10 percent and get first choice of sale items.
“The friends use membership dues to buy things for the library,” Pearson said. “They pay for a lot of our programs also. They help us quite a bit.”
Annual membership is $20 for a family, $15 individuals and $5 for students and seniors.
“People love books and they really love our library,” Pearson said. “We’re smaller, but I think it’s the staff. We go out of our way to help our patrons.”
