The RC Morning Report for April 16

Snow in the Valley

It’s definitely a snow on the daffodils morning today, with road controls in Douglas County on Kingsbury Grade, over Spooner Summit and through the Pine Nut Mountains. Chains or four-wheel drive are being required over Echo Summit and Carson Pass. Natural Resources Conservation Service Snow telemetry on Ebbetts Pass reported 9 inches fell before midnight. Heavenly Valley saw 8 inches on the ground.

Freezing temperatures tonight

The National Weather Service reports we’ll see scattered snow showers today mostly before 5 p.m. with little or not accumulation during the day. Expect partly sunny skies with a high of 45 degrees and a 10 mph north wind. It’s going to drop down to 23 degrees tonight so disconnect the hoses and shut off the sprinkler system. Low temperatures will be back above freezing on Thursday night.

In court today

A 20-year-old Gardnerville man is seeking a reduction in bail after being held in jail for the better part of two months. Taylor A. Monge admitted to possession of a stolen vehicle in connection with the theft of two dirtbikes from a Gardnerville Ranchos home on Feb. 20.
