Cadet firefighters progress

The latest class of volunteer firefighter cadets is expected to complete their training in May, just in time for the height of wildland fire season. East Fork Deputy Chief Tim Soule said nearly two dozen residents are participating in volunteer training. “We have 22 local community members volunteering their time to assist their neighbors by becoming East Fork Fire District volunteer firefighters,” he said. The cadets started their training in January and last month trained at the Carson City Airport on the firefighting training tower.
