The R-C Morning Report for April 4

Road discussion today

County engineers will be making the case for increasing support for road maintenance today, even as a report card issued by a national transportation research firm reports more than half of Northern Nevada’s roads are in poor condition. The TRIP report out this morning says 55 percent of Northern Nevada Roads are in bad shape, while only 12 percent are in good condition. The Douglas County commission meets at 1 p.m. today.

Stormy weather

It’s already windy out today and it will be getting windier. Expect wind gusts of 35 mph along Highway 395 and on Highway 88 further south as the storm arrives. Blowing dust will be a problem in the deserts, thanks to the lack of moisture during the first quarter.

Will it rain?

Maybe not. There’s a 40 percent chance of showers, and even if some precipitation falls, there won’t be much. Today’s forecast is calling for about .05 inches through tonight. The weather will remain warm as well, with the high hitting 64 degrees today.
