Gardnerville man hurt when he swerves to miss other car

A close call at Airport Road and Highway 395 this morning resulted in a Gardnerville man going to the hospital after he swerved to miss a vehicle that pulled into his path.

William Wohler, 53, was northbound on Highway 395 when a vehicle pulled into his path at about 6:15 a.m.

“The woman was attempting to turn south and failed to see Mr. Wohler,” Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen said. “Mr. Wohler swerved to the right, and rolled off the northeast part of the roadway.”

Wohler’s truck flipped over and landed on its side with its front pointing back the way he came. Fortunately, Allen said, he was wearing his seatbelt.

He was helicoptered to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight with what Allen described as a painful, but nonlife threatening, back injury.

The name of the woman in the other vehicle was not released this morning. After the accident she stopped and spoke with troopers.
