20-30 clubs treat children to school shopping spree

Staff Reports

Jason Johnston and Lisa Taylor help Maddox and Syler Beagle shop for clothes.

The Sierra Nevada Active 20-30 No. 730 Club and The Carson Valley Active 20-30 No. 85 Club treated more than 50 children to a shopping spree Aug. 10 at Walmart.

Every August, both clubs join forces to take Douglas County children in need clothes shopping for the upcoming school year. The clubs also provided Walmart gift cards to Austin's House.

"We would like to thank all of our volunteers and generous donors for helping us make our 2013 shopping spree a huge success," said Elisabeth Rossman, publicity director. "We'd also like to give a special thank you to the Gardnerville Walmart for providing a great breakfast for the kids and volunteers, and a special thank you to Angela Wood, assistant manager, who ensured the kids had a great selection of back to school clothes."
