Power was out to as many as 10,000 Douglas County homes on Sunday.
According to NVEnergy’s web site, at 9 p.m. there were 5,300 Lake Tahoe residents of Douglas County were still without power.
The county was subject to 16 different outages during a lightning storm that crossed Carson Valley and into the Lake Tahoe Basin on Sunday afternoon.
Outages affected traffic lights and businesses in the Valley.
NV Energy spokesman Karl Walquist said one of the biggest geopgraphical areas out was at Lake Tahoe from Glenbrook to Stateline and included some Liberty Utilities customers in South Lake Tahoe.
Gardnerville had an estimated 6,884 homes without power at 7:45 p.m.
“We had a ton of lightning from this storm,” Walquist said. “We’ve had people out all afternoon to get everything reset.”
Power went out in Genoa at 4:20 p.m. and came back on at 8:35 p.m.
Residents in Fish Springs, Johnson Lane and the Gardnerville Ranchos reported their power was out.
