The R-C Morning Report for May 8

Tonight’s Town Hall Debate will be focused mainly on the sheriff’s race, since Assemblyman Jim Wheeler has another engagement. The order has changed up to let Wheeler’s challenger, Robin Reedy, go first. Doors at the CVIC Hall open at 5 p.m. The trouble starts at 6 p.m.

Speed limit signs that show how fast your going have been installed along Wildrose where it changes from Gardnerville to Minden. On Tuesday, Gardnerville Town Manager Tom Dallaire said that there are speeders in that neighborhood, including some clocked at 42 mph on Wildrose. Minden will be doing a similar study.

Dr. Gene Hattori will be talking about the history of the Frémont cannon 7 p.m. today at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center. Historical society members get in for free. Admission is $3 otherwise.

It was a beautiful morning to take pictures today with a little bit of cloud muting the early light. All that’s going to change this afternoon when the wind picks up to 15-20 mph, gusting to 30 mph. There a slight chance of showers tonight.
