East Valley Road open after flash flood
July 30, 2014
While water and mud are still on East Valley Road near Kiss Lane, the road was open to traffic at 6 p.m.
Vehicles drove around a large puddle on the east side of the highway which was draining to the other side, where it flowed into fields owned by the Bentlys.
The flood closed East Valley Road between Eldon Way and Kiss Lane in the east Valley around 3:23 p.m. Wednesday.
Emergency officials initially reported 3-4 inches of water over the roadway.
Thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected to continue this evening as abundant moisture combines with an upper level disturbance, forecasters said.
According to a rain gauge at the top of Johnson Lane a quarter inch of rain fell in 30 minutes at about 1 p.m.
A flash flood watch is in effect for Carson Valley until 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
It has been two weeks and a day since a flash flood struck northern Carson Valley, East Valley and Fish Springs.
