As part of keeping residents informed about the construction and renovation changes that will occur at Douglas High School in the next 14 months, the school district's staff invites any interested community members to two events.

The first will be an opportunity for the public to tour the DHS Commons and main gymnasium areas before they go under construction.

This event will be 9 a.m. until noon Saturday. The public will be able to access the Commons, triangle area, and the main gym to reminisce and take pictures.

Douglas High School will also post pictures of these areas on its website for the community to view.

The second event will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics two-story building. This will be 3:30 p.m. May 22 in front of the school by the main entrance.

The public is welcome to attend this event which will have school board members, district staff, and representatives from Turner Construction and H&K Architects.
