Trio to face hearing Tuesday

Three people arrested in connection with the brandishing of a knife during a reported Oct. 29 shoplifting incident are scheduled to be arraigned in Douglas County District Court on Tuesday.

Reno residents Robert Michael Dean, 23, Dylan Andrew Mitts, 24, Elizabeth Kathrine Spandau, 22, were arrested Oct. 29 at gunpoint on Highway 395 after one of them allegedly brandished a knife at a store security officer.

Spandau has already pleaded guilty to one count of petit larceny and was sentenced to 30 days in jail in East Fork Justice Court.

As part of her agreement, she is expected to enter a guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance. Prosecutors agreed not to oppose her diversion to Western Regional Drug Court.

Dean and Mitts both have plea agreements in connection with the case

According to court documents the trio entered the Grant Avenue Walmart in Gardnerville and left with several items.
