DCSO hosts field training officer class

Thirty-four officers from eight law enforcement agencies recently completed field officer training at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Agencies represented included DCSO, Carson City, Nye, Churchill and Storey county sheriff’s offices, Reno-Tahoe International Airport, Carson City Juvenile Probation Office and Sparks Police Department. Participants completed a week of training in Minden, and graduated Oct. 11. “It’s a lot of work,” said Sheriff Ron Pierini, who presented the graduates with certificates. “You learn a lot about safety, investigations and how to train others.” Pierini said field training officers are critical to the success and safety of new recruits. “From the first …
