17 arrested in Mono County saturation patrol

What amounted to a law enforcement full-court press in northern Mono County resulted in the arrests of 17 people on felony charges over the course of four days ending Sunday.

Called a saturation patrol, the tactic involved officers from the Mono County Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol, the Eldorado County Sheriff’s Office and the police departments of Mammoth Lakes, Bishop and South Lake Tahoe.

Mono County Sgt. Seth Clark said the purpose of the exercise was to catch people transporting illegal narcotics through the county. Drug sniffing dogs participated in the patrol, and most of the arrests were for drug related issues.

San Diego residents Michael Stefaun, 44, and James Wilson 43 were arrested on Aug. 22 for possession of cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and psilocybin mushrooms.

Three people were arrested on Friday, including 30-year-old Bellingham, Wash., residents Todd Buckley and Kyle Walker for possession of psilocybin mushrooms, and a 42-year-old Oregon woman who was arrested for possession of a methamphetamine pipe and a used syringe.

Four Los Angeles men were arrested during a Saturday traffic stop for possession of cocaine, ecstasy, MDMA, LSD and marijuana. Martin Robertaccio, Curtis Wood, Jeremiah Mezzel and Luke Mezzel were taken into custody. Their ages weren’t available.

Four other traffic stops on Saturday resulted in the arrest of seven motorists, including Wilton Manor, Fla., resident Paul Neadow, 35, and San Diego resident Bret Gerber, 47, for possession of MDMA, psilocybin mushrooms, GHB, and ecstasy. Also arrested on Saturday were San Diego residents Kristen Brewer, 32, and Daniel Jacob, 55, for possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. Los Angeles residents Max Bruce, 45, and Robert Payne, 45, were arrested for possession of GHB, Ecstasy, MDMA , and Ketamine. Sherman Oaks resident Scott Kampmeyer, 41, was arrested foir transporting LSD, Ecstasy, marijuana and cocaine.

One man, Jonathan Blaising, 26, was arrested for possession of Adderall and Xanax without a prescription.

Clark said that all cases have been submitted to the Mono County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
