Minor injuries reported from accident

A Wadsworth man was treated for minor injuries today after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 395 near Carson Valley Middle School.

Steven Johnson, 50, sustained injuries after the Dodge Saturn he was driving came into contact with an International commercial vehicle at 11:55 a.m. Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Danny Lopez said the Saturn was travelling southbound in front of the commercial vehicle when the collision occurred. The Saturn spun 360 degrees and came to a stop in the highway center lane.

Johnson was transported to Carson Valley Medical Center as a precautionary measure. The driver of the International, Vance Sallee, 52, of Bishop, Calif., was uninjured, according to the NHP report.

No citations were issued at the time of the accident due to conflicting reports relating to the cause, Lopez said.

In another accident Friday at 2:39 p.m. south of Gardnerville, the NHP reported three vehicles were involved in a collision at the traffic light at Highway 395 and Riverview Drive.

Thelma Christensen, 76, of Gardnerville was transported by Care Flight to Renown Hospital in Reno with non-life threatening injuries. According to the NHP report, Christensen’s 1996 Honda Accord was approaching a red light and struck a 1993 Chevrolet Caprice that had already stopped. The impact of the collision sent the Caprice forward and into the rear end of a Lexis.

No injuries were reported to the other two drivers.
