Arraignment continued pending mental evaluation

A man’s arraignment was continued Wednesday until a mental health evaluation could be administered.

Solomon Guyton was arrested Saturday after four witnesses identified him as a man that had been exposing and touching himself in James Lee Park around children attending a birthday party.

Guyton was approached by deputies after multiple reporting parties called 911 to report a male, watching children in the park and “playing with himself.”

Multiple witnesses stated Guyton was watching the children with his hands down his pants.

Guyton left the scene after witnesses told him they had contacted authorities.

Deputies were able to find the vehicle matching the description witnesses gave and attempted to speak with Guyton about the allegations.

Guyton admitted to being at the park and sitting on a swing, but was having problems with his zipper, and was not exposing himself.

He was hostile and defensive when speaking with deputies and repeated “It’s a public place.”

According to the sheriff’s report, witnesses stated that Guyton was sitting on a bench approximately 15 feet from children playing, exposing and playing with himself.

Two witnesses followed Guyton to his vehicle to be able to provide deputies with a location and description.

Guyton was taken to Douglas County jail for booking on open lewdness and indecent exposure allegations.

His bail is set at $3,000.

Arraignment is set for July 23.
