Cops: Meth syringe found on woman sought by drug court

A Gardnerville woman was arrested Saturday on a warrant after she failed to stop at a stop sign in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

Jennifer Alexander, 32, told deputies she had a syringe loaded with methamphetamine in a pouch.

She was taken into custody on two felony warrants, one for failure to appear in Western Regional Drug Court and another from parole and probation.

Alexander appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Wednesday, where defense attorney Jamie Henry asked for two weeks to find out if Alexander may return to drug court.

Inside her vehicle deputies allegedly found a blue tourniquet, a plastic bottle with 47 pills and three hypodermic syringes, one of which had blood in it. She told deputies she’d used heroin the day before.

During a strip search deputies found two items containing drugs on Meahan’s person.

Her attorney said Meahan will plead guilty to possession of a controlled substance with a recommended sentence of 13-36 months.

She won’t seek diversion but prosecutors won’t argue against probation if she participates in Western Regional Drug Court, and remains in custody until her sentencing.
