Carson rabies case prompts puppy search

Douglas County Animal Services is seeking a boxer-mix puppy that was one of a litter connected with a rabies case that exposed two Carson City residents.

The 12-13-week-old male dog was adopted when he was 5-6 weeks old.

Animal Services Supervisor Janet Duzan said that the dog was last given to a woman, who was contacted through Facebook and met at the Tillman 7-Eleven in the Gardnerville Ranchos in mid-January.

Anyone with information about the dog is asked to contact Douglas County Animal Services at 782-9061.

Two Carson City residents underwent rabies treatment from exposure to a puppy that tested positive last week, according to health officials.
