Tickets are available at the door for Friday’s epic benefit dodgeball tournament pitting Douglas County sheriff’s officers against East Fork firefighter-paramedics.
Proceeds from the event will go to Elisa Storke, 33, who is undergoing cancer treatment. She is the wife of DCSO investigator Jon Storke.
As of Thursday afternoon, 29 sworn officers from the Douglas County Sheriff’s office had signed up to play. They include members of the SWAT team, jail and patrol deputies, and reserves.
The DCSO teams, undaunted by the challenge of the firefighters and paramedics, reminded their opponents “to bring an ambulance.”
Details of the East Fork firefighters’ teams weren’t revealed, but they had vowed to “annihilate” the sheriff’s office.
The event is 6-8:30 p.m. at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, 701 Long Valley, Gardnerville Ranchos.
In addition to the tournament, a number of businesses, service organizations and individuals have donated food, drinks, and items for a silent auction and raffle.
There will be a food concession and bake sale. Team T-shirts are available for $15 each.
Tickets for the tournament are $20 family and $10 individual.
They are available at the sheriff’s office, 1038 Buckeye Road, Minden; East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts, 1694 County Road, Minden; The Record-Courier, 1503 Highway 395, Suite G, Gardnerville, and at the tournament.
Anyone who wishes to donate to Elisa Storke’s medical costs may send checks, made out to DCSPA (Douglas County Sheriff’ Protective Association), for “Elisa Storke,” and mailed to DCSPA, PO Box 218, Minden, NV 89423.
