Photography studio opens in Gardnerville

by Abby Pitman

Gardnerville resident and UCLA graduate Ashley Brown has been a self taught photographer for two years, and recently opened Always Elegant Photography studio.

Brown specializes in newborn and family photography, having developed her passion for photography when her first son was born.

"After having my first baby I could not put my camera down," Brown said.

"I wanted to capture every milestone and those little smiles that change every day."

Getting a baby photographed can often be a difficult process, but Brown said she offers a comfortable environment where safety is a top priority.

"I am very comfortable with babies and kids and know exactly what to do to capture that perfect portrait of each child," she said. "Newborns only stay little for a short time so being able to capture their innocent smiles, their tiny baby rolls and the love between the parents and baby is what makes me happy as an artist."

For Brown, photography has never been a job.

"Photography is so much more than a job. It is a passion, a hobby, a life calling and a career," she said. "My favorite thing to photograph without a doubt would be newborns, but a close second would be photographing those same newborns at their one-year cake smash sessions."

According to Brown, each session is unique and designed to be a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

"Our goal for any portrait session is to create stunning art work for display in your home and keepsakes to last a lifetime. We offer a variety of ways to display your one-of-a-kind experience including albums, portrait collections, gift prints, canvas wraps, custom framing and digital negatives," Brown explained. "We believe families value their portrait sessions more when they can see their images hanging throughout their house or in heirloom quality albums and not on their hard drive or phones. We also provide in person ordering sessions so we can help you every step of the way making us, your boutique portrait studio."

"I have never taken a photography class," Brown said. "I am 100-percent self-taught."

After Brown graduated from UCLA with a psychology degree, she came to Nevada.

"I met my husband while we were both on vacation and he lived here," she said. "After I graduated from UCLA I moved here the next day and have never looked back. Now my whole family lives here. From the start, this business has been created around my kids and family."
