Gardnerville Scolari’s closing pharmacy

Scolari’s Food & Drug Co. in Gardnerville is closing its pharmacy and transferring its clients to Rite Aid.

Marketing Director Jan Gilbert said the decision affects only the Gardnerville store. The rest of the store will remain open.

“It was an economic decision we had to make based on a competitive market,” he said. “One of our competitors is the world’s largest retailer and the other is the nation’s largest supermarket chain. This is a business decision we needed to make.”

Scolari’s is a Reno-based supermarket chain. The Gardnerville store has served Carson Valley for more than 20 years.
