Buona Sera Ristorante bids Minden arrivederci

The Minden restaurant, whose name is Italian for good evening, bid good night to Carson Valley on Monday as Buona Sera closed its doors after five years in business.

Opened by Burr and Cindi Otto in 2009 after they purchased Marcello’s Ristorante & Bar from Robert Humphrey, the restaurant is located in the Ironwood Center.

“Burr and I aren’t just tired, we are retiring,” Cindi said in an email to customers. “We wanted to have more time to close, but our fabulous Chef Tasso, took another job at Lake Tahoe.”

The couple looked for a new chef but couldn’t find one, and decided to wrap up the business.

The restaurant was packed on Monday night as residents said farewell to the Ottos.

This is not Burr Otto’s first retirement, he worked for the Douglas County School District, and was an academic coordinator for the culinary arts program at China Spring Youth Camp.
