Woman booked in veterinarian break-in

A Gardnerville woman faces a burglary charge after she allegedly broke into Jobs Peak Veterinary Hospital on Monday morning.

Amber Nicole Serrato, 29, was taken into custody after witnesses heard a window, and saw a woman running from the business with a lockbox and climb into a running Dodge Durango.

A witness followed the Durango to the Crestmore Apartments where deputies found it parked at an angle. A deputy found the box in front of one of the apartments. As they were working at the scene, Serrato approached them and said her vehicle had been stolen. When questioned she claimed she was the getaway driver. During booking she allegedly admitted to breaking into the business, where she’d worked before.

She is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court on Friday.
