Leadership Douglas County is hosting Making Connections: Networking for a Better Community, an event for nonprofits and service clubs.
The event is 3-6 p.m. Thursday in the CVIC Hall in Minden.
Bret L. Simmons, associate professor of management at the University of Nevada, Reno will speak.
Attendees will learn how to apply the priciples of social business marketing to organization outreach and membership recruitment, engage with community leaders from other nonprofit groups and service clubs, and exchange information regarding organization leadership, events and missions.
There will be appetizers and a nohost bar.

GE hosts car & motorcycle show
GE is hosting the second annual Car & Motorcycle Show to benefit the Douglas High School STEM Program.
The car show is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 19 at the GE Bently Nevada South Parking Lot, 1631 Bently Parkway South, Minden.
The event is open to the public, with a $25 early entry fee or $30 after Sept. 16.
All proceeds go to the Douglas County program for students in science, technology, engineering and math.
Categories include, classic, sport, off-road, motorcycle, nonmotorized and beater (must run), and a people’s choice award.
