Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center has been designated Nevada’s first baby-friendly hospital. The term “baby-friendly” is reserved for use by facilities who have met strict criteria established by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund, and in the U.S., conferred by Baby-Friendly USA. The designation is awarded to hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding and mother-baby bonding.

Chamber Board of Directors installation today
The Carson Valley Chamber will install its 2013-2014 Board of Directors 5:50 p.m. today at the Carson Valley Country Club. The new directors are David Brady of Brady & Associates and Jessica Jensen of Guild Mortgage. They will join returning directors Katie Marquardt of GE, Measurement & Control, Bill Henderson of Carson Valley Inn, Dr. David James of Dr. James the Dentist, Lee Bonner of the Douglas County Commission, Gerry Bing of Bing Materials, George Swetland of Pro Group Management, Tom Brooks of Carson Valley Golf Course, Tom King of Tahoe Ridge Winery, Bistro and Marketplace, Brynn Bertucci of US Bank and Fran Pritchard of Panchita’s Killer Salsa.

Olive oil tasting and dinner at Buona Sera
Buona Sera Ristorante & Catering presents and olive oil tasting class and dinner with Orietta Gianjorio.
The class is 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1799 Ironwood Drive, Unit B, Minden.
The dinner will be five courses, with four oils from gold medal winning Pacific Sun Olive Oils.
Gianjorio was born and raised in Rome. She moved to California in 2008. She is a member of the UC Davis Olive Oil Taste Panel, and the Mars-UC Davis Chocolate Taste Panel. She holds a diploma of Sommelier from the Italian Sommeliers Association, and she is the delegate in the greater Sacramento area for the Accademia Italiana della Cucina (Italian Academy of Cuisine).
