Carson Tahoe Regional earns baby-friendly designation

Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center has been designated Nevada’s first baby-friendly hospital. The term “baby-friendly” is reserved for use by facilities who have met strict criteria established by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund, and in the U.S., conferred by Baby-Friendly USA. The designation is awarded to hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding and mother-baby bonding. Currently, 164 hospitals and birthing centers in 41 states and the District of Columbia hold the baby-friendly designation.
