The RC Morning Report for June 18

A red flag warning for Western Nevada goes into effect at noon as high winds and low humidity combine for critical fire weather. Expect southwest winds 20-30 mph gusting to 45 mph, with higher gusts along Highway 395 through Washoe Valley and around Coleville. The red flag will fly until 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Obviously, burning won’t be permitted today. Be careful with any activity that could cause a spark. If you can stay out of the wind, it’ll be nice with a high of 76 degrees under sunny skies.

A Carson City man who was convicted of stealing thousands of dollars in jewelry from a home where he was working on the landscaping is in Douglas County District Court this morning on a probation violation. Cesar Dominic Hartman, 24, faces up to six years in prison if his probation is revoked.

A man who was convicted of stealing $3,500 from a relative a year ago is back in Douglas County District Court on a probation violation. We last heard from Matthew Ball, 19, in April when he was ordered to jail for failing to complete any of the terms of his probation. He’s scheduled to appear in front of District Judge Tod Young this morning.
