Minden Episcopal church receives new reverend

Rev. Richard "Dick" Snyder has begun duties as priest in charge at Coventry Cross Episcopal Church in Minden.
He is responsible for leading worship, Christian education and other facets of the church activities.
"I am looking forward to working with the people of Coventry Cross in meeting the worship, pastoral and educational needs of the parish," he said.
Prior to entering seminary in 2001, Snyder served as warden of Episcopal churches in Virginia City and Glenbrook. He also served previously for 10 years as editor of the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada's newspaper, and was employed as a correctional casework specialist for the Nevada Department of Corrections.
Since becoming ordained, he has served parishes in the Diocese of Utah and the Navajoland Area Mission.
Snyder now serves on the Episcopal Church's Standing Commission for Communications and Information Technology, and recently completed a term on the board of governors of Episcopal Life, the newspaper of the Episcopal Church.
He is also employed full time as institutional chaplain at Warm Springs Correctional Center in Carson City.
His wife, Debbie, is a pharmacy technician with the Veterans Medical Center in Reno.
Rev. Elizabeth Tattersall, who formerly served as priest in charge, will continue to serve one Sunday each month.
