Jobless rate jumps

The closure of the Gardnerville Scolari’s on Black Friday contributed significantly to a .6 percent jump in the unemployment rate in Douglas County for December.

According to figures released this morning, Douglas unemployment rate for the last month of the year was 9.6 percent.

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported that there were 140 more people out of work in December than in November, while total employment shrank by 100 jobs.
