The R-C Morning Report for Jan. 2

More than twice as many people were arrested in Stateline on Tuesday night than were taken into custody last year. Two-dozen people were arrested this year, compared to 10 last year and the year before that. The crowd remained around 30,000 people.

The Nevada Highway Patrol arrested fewer people for driving under the influence and responded to fewer injury accidents over New Year’s Eve. They’ll be keeping a watch out for impaired drivers through Monday.

The temperature inversion is back in place for the time being with the Ranchos Aspen air quality monitor reading unhealthy for sensitive groups. Don’t expect it to change much over the next week.

Expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 51 today, and a little bit of breeze. We’ve got a temperature drop on Saturday that might mean some weather, and then a slight chance of showers next week.
