The R-C Morning Report for Dec. 9

A Gardnerville Ranchos woman whose 2-year-old daughter was found wandering the neighborhood faces sentencing this morning on one count of child endangerment. When questioned Katherine Mary Hetzel, 20, at first denied the child was hers. She faces up to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine.

I’ve got minus 8 degrees on my thermometer here north of Genoa at 6 a.m. The Valley’s at minus 11 near Highway 395 and Genoa Lane. There’s a thermometer in the Gardnerville Ranchos that reads minus 19. What it all adds up to is to bundle up this morning because it’s very cold.

Cold temperatures and high pressure mean we’ll have an inversion over the next few days, with smoky air pinned to the Valley floors. Air in the Gardnerville Ranhos hit unhealthy levels at 1 a.m. today.
