Emergency personnel are responding to a report of a rollover accident on Highway 89 near the Alpine County Sheriff’s Office that was reported at 7:50 p.m. involving a green Chevrolet truck with camper shell. The 24-year-old man is telling authorities he isn’t injured. The pickup is on its side. The roads are slick in the mountains, so be careful out there.
Fifteen different agencies are seeking a piece of the $133,000 Douglas County has budgeted for community grants. It doesn’t help that the total request from groups ranging from Austin’s House and Backpack Buddies to Youth and Family Services and the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club are seeking $176,390 from the general fund. Commissioners meet 1:30 p.m. at the Tahoe Transportation Center in Stateline.
Also before commissioners today is a discussion on submitting proposals for Community Development Block Grants. Among the proposals is one from the Town of Gardnerville for the former Eagle Station. Also seeking grants are the East Fork Fire & Paramedic District, Douglas County Community Services Foundation, Nevada Rural Counties RSVP program and the Suicide Prevention Network.
