Woman recants fake police officer attack story

A woman who claimed to have been pulled over by a man pretending to be a law enforcement officer retracted her story, Alpine County Undersheriff Rob Levy said Saturday night.

”The victim changed her story,” Levy said. “She wasn’t attacked in Alpine County and there was no one posing as a law enforcement officer.”

The woman was severely beaten, and that investigation is still ongoing, Levy said. He didn’t release any details about what she said did happen.

“We’ve been getting calls and we want to assure women that they are safer than they’ve been led to believe,” he said.

The woman was the subject of a Facebook post on Tuesday detailing the attack that allegedly occurred Monday night. Alpine County investigators interviewed her and she allegedly told them that a man in a white pickup shined a red light at her vehicle and she pulled over.
