The RC Morning Report for Sept. 17

Our fire weather watch turned into a red flag warning for 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today as a front moves through the area today bringing gusty winds and very dry air. Expect winds southwest to west at 15-25 mph, gusting to 30-35 mph. Gusts of up to 45 mph are expected in windprone areas.

Two men who dressed in uniforms to purchase stamps using bad checks face sentencing for felony burglary this morning in Douglas County District Court. Daniel Aaron Kipperman, 35, of Reno, and transient David Edwin Ramsey, 51, pleaded guilty to felony burglary in July. The men face up to 10 years in prison for obtaining more than two-dozen rolls of Forever stamps worth $1,104.

We had a 1.6 magnitude earthquake between China Spring Road and the river at about 6:40 a.m. today.

Flags were ordered at half-staff through Friday by order of the presidents in observance of the Washington Navy Yard shooting that left 12 people and the shooter dead.
