Governors to meet at Dangberg

Three former governors — Richard Bryan, Robert List and John Sparks — will be represented during a dinner Sept. 21 at the historic Dangberg Home Ranch, and Bryan will take part in a panel discussion.

Bryan, a Democrat, also was a state Assemblyman, senator and attorney general. He was governor from 1983-89. List, a Republican, served as the district attorney of Carson City, then attorney general for Nevada, before serving as governor from 1979-83. Sparks, a member of the Silver-Democrat party, served from 1903 until his death in 1908. He will be portrayed by Chautauquan Michael Fischer.

The cost is $85 per person. Reservations are required; go to dangbergdinner.eventbrite.comor call park curator Mark Jensen at 783-9417. The event will be emceed by KNPB news director Brent Boynton.

Fischer is the former director of the Nevada Department of Cultural Affairs and performs Chautauqua portrayals of Sparks and Carson Valley rancher H.F. Dangberg. .

The event, which is aimed at expanding membership in Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch, will take place outdoors at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, 1450 Highway 88 in Minden.
