The Douglas County Historical Society is sponsoring a tour of six historical homes in Gardnerville as a fundraising event.
The Douglas Avenue and Eddy Street homes will be open for viewing 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept.14.
Tickets can be purchased at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center in Gardnerville. The cost is $15 for historical society members and $20 for nonmembers.
Tickets may be obtained by calling 782-2555 for credit card purchase. The morning of the tour, “will call” and tickets sales will be at 1478 Douglas Ave. Tickets will not be mailed and no refunds given.
Parking is permitted at the Lutheran Church parking lot on Mill Street. No interior photos of homes will be allowed.
Volunteers will be on site to check tickets and act as guides. It is suggested that soft soled shoes be worn, no high heels or boots.
Among homes on tour are the Arendt Jensen house, the Catholic Church rectory, the original Biaggi home and the original Montrose home.
Woodettes diner is giving all tickets holders 10 percent off breakfast or lunch the day of the tour. They are open from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
