RC Smoky Report for Aug. 28

We awoke to our sixth red sunrise in a row as the smoke continues to pour into Carson Valley. Our air is listed as hazardous at 266 in the Gardnerville Ranchos, according to the Nevada Department of Environmental Protection.

The Lampe Farmers Market is cancelled today and the schools are keeping students indoors again. That’s not a bad idea for most of the rest of us as much as possible. Not a top-down sort of driving day, that’s for sure.

The dense smoke is expected to linger for another day at least, with the National Weather Service leaving the smoke advisory up until 5 a.m. Thursday. Visibility will be a quarter mile or less at times, with it clearing a bit tonight.
