Man suspected in beating arrested

A 26-year-old Gardnerville man with a history of gang involvement was arrested Saturday hiding in a closet at his parents’ house in connection with a beating in May. Miguel Banuelos Rubio is in Douglas County Jail on $28,783 bail. He is to appear today in East Fork Justice Court on allegations of robbery and battery with the intent to commit a crime. East Fork Judge Tom Perkins appointed Kris Brown to represent the suspect. Rubio is accused of beating a 40-year-old man in an effort to get money to go gambling on May 25.
