Dangberg hosts pioneer Chautauqua

The Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park will present a Chautauqua, “Mary Oxborrow: Pioneer Midwife and Healer,” portrayed by Anita Watson, on 10 a.m. Saturday. The event is free and open to the public. Mary Oxborrow immigrated to Utah from England and later became a Mormon colonist in Lund. She not only made the western trek walking behind an ox cart, but also became a polygamous wife and the mother of 11 children, and practiced as a midwife and healer. Her life provides insight into the role of women in Mormon society, medical practices in Nevada, social life on the frontier, …
