Man arrested after exposing himself at concert

A 33-year-old Mountain View, Calif., man was arrested Thursday night for indecent exposure at a free summer concert at Lakeview Commons in South Lake Tahoe.

Two officers were at Lakeview Commons when several people contacted directed them to the suspect, Ajit Madiah.

Witnesses said that Madiah was angry and challenging a man to fight and had exposed his genitals to the crowd while screaming angrily.

Officers contacted the victim, Mike MacKenzie, a 58-year-old school teacher visiting Lakeview Commons with his wife and children from Merced, Calif.

MacKenzie said he was watching the concert and taking photos of the lake, sunset and concert. He said Madiah confronted him about taking pictures of the sunset, started calling him names, screaming profanities, and displaying an aggressive, agitated and confrontational demeanor.

MacKenzie walked away from Madiah, but said the suspect approached him in a different area and took a fighting posture.

MacKenzie said he made a futile attempt to speak with the suspect. Madiah allegedly dropped his pants, exposed his genitals to MacKenzie and the community, which consisted of approximately 10 to 15 adults and children, while screaming profanities.

Several other upset witnesses corroborated the same account and desired to make a private persons arrest.

Officers booked Madiah into El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe for misdemeanor indecent exposure. His bail is $1,500.

Officers had previous contact with Madiah on July 11 at the concert at Lakeview Commons.

They warned Madiah because he was trying to pick a fight with several patrons at the concert.

Officers told Madiah to leave or be arrested for a public disturbance. According to reports, Madiah left the area at that time without causing any further problems.
