The RC Morning Report for July 9

Planning commissioners have a reasonably busy day today with three requests. The first is a tentative subdivision map for Edgewood Companies to divide 90 acres into 17 parcels, the smallest of which is 5 acres. The parcel is located south of Buckeye Road and Mid-Valley Boulevard, and is properly zoned. Second is an application for a development for Kids and Horses to be considered a use of community significance. And third is a request from Roger Falcke for variance on a property up at Lake Tahoe. Planning commissioners meet beginning at 1 p.m. in the historic Minden Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St.

Douglas County School Board trustees will start to talk about what to do at the middle schools once the ninth-graders have returned to Douglas High School in the fall 2015. A lot of ideas have been floated, but Superintendent Lisa Noonan said they’ll just be gathering public input for now. Also the ritual call for offers and bids for Kingsbury Middle School is scheduled for today. The school’s for sale for $4 million. Trustees meet 3:30 p.m. at the Lake Tahoe Public Library in Zephyr Cove.

The forecast calls for smoke today, and some widespread haze. Expect otherwise sunny skies with a high temperature near 93 and light southwest winds, increasing to 10-15 mph around 2 p.m., with gusts of up to 25 mph.
