It’s going to be hella hot this weekend with the high on Sunday forecast to hit 101, and more of the same on Monday and Tuesday at least. The record high temperatures for Minden were updated by the National Weather Service. The record for June 30 is 101 degrees set in 1932. For July 1 the record was 102, set in 1924. For July 2 the record was 100 set in 2001.
The Weather Service is recommending people not conduct strenuous work in the heat of the day. Around here that’s pretty much 1-6 p.m. Keep hydrated, stay cool, and hope the heat wave actually leaves next week, because sometimes these things like to linger.
The fundraiser for Douglas High graduate Andrea Navarro is 4-8 p.m. today at the Minden McDonald’s. During that time 20 percent of all sales will be donated to the family to help with costs incurred when Andrea was in a motorcycle accident just before graduation.
