Stormchaser killed by tornado from Tahoe

A former South Lake Tahoe geology instructor and League to Save Lake Tahoe program director was one of the three storm chasers killed in the El Reno, Okla., tornado on Friday, local television stations are reporting. Carl Young was a graduate of the University of Nevada Reno, and served as meteorologist for the Twistex Team.

Copper theft case in court

A Wellington man accused of stealing copper from a Foothill Road ranch and of setting the controlled burn that started the TRE Fire last year is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court this morning for arraignment in the copper theft case. Steven Walter Cozad, 30, failed to appear for trail on the fire case, which is a misdemeanor.

Sunny and warm today

We may see some thunderstorms in the middle of the week, but for today the forecast is for sunny and warm with the high in the upper 80s and the low tonight in the 40s. Temperatures will crack 90 by the middle of the week.
