The RC Morning Report for May 24

Shaky town

The region around Lake Almanor is still vibrating this morning after a 5.7 magnitude earthquake centered under the south end of the lake hit 8:47 p.m. Thursday. More than 8,000 people reported feeling the original Quake including a handful in Douglas County. The last temblor hit at 7:30 a.m. and I suspect they’ll keep going through the day.

Weekend events

It feels early for Memorial Day, and graduation is coming up in a week. There are a variety of events occurring this weekend including a DAWG fundraiser up in Saratoga Springs, volunteers will be working at Heritage Gardens and East Fork will be holding a new member reception. All this and more can be found in The Record-Courier on news stands now.

Cool weekend

Memorial Day weekend will be sunny and cool for the most part with temperatures today warming up into the 70s, and winds picking up this morning to 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph. The temperatures will cool down into the 60s again on Sunday. It looks like the chance of freezing weather has dropped off a bit.
