The RC Morning Report for May 21

Sentencing for robber today

Admitted bank robber Jarell Williams faces up to 15 years in prison at his sentencing scheduled for this morning in Douglas County District Court. Williams was arrested minutes after the Jan. 4 robbery of the Topsy Lane Bank of America after residents tracked his movements and alerted deputies to his location.

Final budget hearing

Douglas County commissioners took longer listing the funds and reading the motion than anything else at the 15-minute approval of the final budget on Monday afternoon.

Genoa playground equipment

Genoa Town Board members are scheduled to discuss the possibility of putting playground equipment in Genoa Park. Also they’ll hear updates on Cowboy Poetry, work on downtown and Genoa Peak Madathon. Genoans meet at 6:30 p.m. in the town hall.

Sunny and breezy

It’s going to be sunny, but windy today with 20-25 mph winds in the afternoon, gusting to 40 mph. The high temperature should hit 74 degrees. Expect the big cool down on Wednesday with a high of 63 and the low dropping to the freezing mark, so protect those plants.
