The body of a missing Reno woman who was reportedly suffering from dementia was found near Strawberry on Friday.
Search and rescue personnel found the body of a woman in on Friday following a report of a missing person from the Reno Police Department.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Reno police about 9:10 a.m. requesting assistance in locating Sherilyn Renstrom, 66, who has dementia, according to a Monday statement from the sheriff’s office.
Renstrom’s vehicle was found near Highway 50 east of Strawberry after being identified by a U.S. Forest Service law enforcement officer. Searchers found a woman’s body near the vehicle, according to the statement.
“The identity of the female cannot be confirmed,” according to the statement. “The Coroner’s Division of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of death and the identity of the female.”
