It’s time to start floating ideas for the June 8 Carson Valley Days parade
Application are due June 1. The theme is “Western Round-up.”
Commercial entry fees are $75, noncommercial are $50 and youth organizations are free.
Registration starts 7 a.m. June 8 in the Douglas High School parking lot. Parade starts at 9 a.m.
To participate in the Partnership of Community Resources’ 5 and 10K walk, jog, run prior to the parade, call 782-8611.
Since the Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club began sponsoring the event more than 60 years ago, Carson Valley Days has grown to include a carnival, craft fair, live music, games, duck races, and tournaments.
More than 4,000 people attend the weekend event that raises more than $25,000 for Douglas County children.
New this year is a battle of the bands 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 9. Other entertainment lined up includes Rick Hayes & the American Steel, Huckle, and Big Bad Wolf.
The carnival opens to the general public June 6 with two-for-one buddy day. Wristbands are available at Nevada State Bank and Scolari’s.
