Minden plans 2-percent trash rate increase

Minden Town Board members are considering a 2 percent hike in trash removal fees which would add $1.10 to the basic quarterly residential rate. The board approved the increase at a first reading on Wednesday. If passed at a second reading May 1, the increase would take effect July 1. It’s the first increase in four years. Board members rejected a suggested 5 percent hike which would have raised the basic rate $2.75 per quarter.
