State’s first appointed superintendent of schools resigns

Nevada’s Superintendent of Public Schools resigned on Friday, the governor’s office announced. “Dr. (James) Guthrie moved to Nevada and helped the state reform how we approach education,” Gov. Brian Sandoval said. “While we continue this work, I thank him for his service to our great state and I wish him the best.” Current Deputy Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Rorie Fitzpatrick has been appointed interim superintendent.
