February employment picture brighter

Douglas County saw an increase in the number of workers and a decrease in the jobless rate during the month of February, according numbers released Friday by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. In all 18,610 people were employed in the county up 210 from January, while unemployment dropped 130 people to 2,340 making the jobless rate 11.2 percent in the county, down from 11.8 percent in January. January saw a nearly 1 percent increase in unemployment after a three-month decrease. In December, joblessness dropped to 10.9 percent, which was its lowest rate since 2009.
