For 5-year-old Hannah Fishbaugher the Easter egg hunt at Trinity Lutheran Childcare Center was only a warmup to the main hunt at her grandma’s house today.
“It was good finding the Easter eggs, but I’m going to find more at my grandma’s house,” Hannah said. “I’m going to share these with my cousins. Easter is all about Jesus really.”
More than 50 dozen candy-filled eggs scattered the lawn and playground at the childcare center on Friday, and disappeared in minutes.
“The children love the fun of Easter and hunting for eggs,” teacher Dawn Holden said. “We also teach them the meaning of Easter that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again. In my class we celebrated Lent by making butterflies to represent the resurrection.”
Matthew Marquardt, 5, said he enjoyed the challenge of the hunt.
“I like looking for eggs. It was kind of hard,” he said. “I’m going to eat them all myself. I don’t want to share with my brother.”
Liliana Adamson filled her basket to the top with eggs before giving them away to her friends.
“It was fun finding the eggs,” the 5-year-old said. “I’m going to share them with my best friend Whitney, It’s her birthday.
Zach Jahreis, 4, found his eight eggs right away.
“I’m a good finder,” he said proudly. “Easter is when the Easter bunny comes and hides eggs. He didn’t hide these eggs, the teachers did. He’ll hide the ones at my house.”
His 6-year-old sister, Cammie, said although she would share her eggs with her little brother, he probably wouldn’t share his with her.
“Finding the eggs was really cool. We could only get eight though,” she said. “It was still really fun.”
For more Easter fun, Carson Valley Active 20/30 Club No. 85 is having their annual Easter egg hunt 1 p.m. today at Lampe Park.
There will be three separate egg hunts for ages 0-3, ages 4-6, and ages 7-10. The free hunt features colored eggs, prizes, candy, and the Easter Bunny will be making an appearance.
David Walley’s Resort in Genoa is also hosting two Easter egg hunts at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. today with a golden egg at each hunt.
